On Monday (Feb 8th) the torch relay came through my hometown of Langley, BC...my kids' elementary school all came to 200th street (everyone dressed in red/white) to see the torch as it passed by. It was very exciting! The kids were chanting "Go Canada Go" at least 20 minutes before we even saw the torchbearer! News helicopters were flying overhead...word has come out that on Friday some of the famous/celebrity torchbearers include: Jann Arden, Wayne Gretzky's dad, Terry Fox's dad, Michael Buble, and even Arnold Schwartzeneggar (weird, don't know why he's doing it!). I wonder who will light the final cauldron in BC Place on Friday night? My bet is on Wayne Gretzky...we'll see I guess. Can't wait!
Back to the Langley torch day...when the runner finally came by, it happened so quickly! We waited a long time, to watch him whizz past us in about 4 seconds flat! Too funny! It was still very exciting! I'm starting to see cars with Canada flags, businesses around town with signs in windows saying: Go Canada Go! The entire Lower Mainland is getting into the Olympic spirit!
